Our Story

Mike and Cassi met how a lot of couples meet these days, on an app. It was December of 2018 when they started chatting and getting to know each other. Not too long after they took the leap to meet in person, it was just coffee, but you gotta start somewhere. 

The day: February 1, 2019. The location: a Caribou Coffee in St. Paul. Cassi refers to this as their first date, Mike disagrees but that's another chapter...

After this they met a few more times for coffee and sometimes a walk around the Rosedale Mall as there was nothing else to really do in Minnesota in February!

It was February 14, 2019... Valentine's Day... Cassi thought this was a horrible idea for a first date since so many people have high expectations of romantic evenings with the one they love on Valentine's Day... Mike didn't care and thought it would be just fine. Cassi advised him that a reservation may be necessary as a lot of restaurants do not have room for "walk-ins". Mike took the advice and made a reservation at The Tavern Grill in Arden Hills. It was a lovely evening of chatting and laughing.

More dates followed and the romance blossomed.

Mike was blessed with two  children from his first marriage. Ayden (now 11) and Lorelei (now 9). Mike and Cassi discussed her meeting the kids, so they decided to met up at the Maplewood Mall, cause it was still pretty cold and gross outside... The kids were a little crazy, probably cabin fever from being inside all winter. As one would expect they wanted to go in every store and buy everything... we went for a ride on the carousel inside the mall, which the kids enjoyed but of course it wasn't a very long ride and when that was over they were bored and acting up again. When their time at the mall was done Cassi and Mike parted ways and Mike was certain he would never hear from Cassi again. Lucky for him, Cassi wasn't deterred by the kids behavior. 

As time went on Mike and Cassi had may adventures together;  a weekend in Duluth, holidays with family, walks by downtown St. Paul, a boat trip on the St. Croix river with family, a train ride in the fall, trips to the farm, and so much more!

In January 2022 Cassi moved in with Mike in South St Paul, MN. Then in December 2022, with the help of Cassi's family and his mom, Shelley, Mike proposed to Cassi at her mom and dad's house on Christmas Eve. As I'm sure you have guessed by now, Cassi said YES!
